Current ICT Projects

Human Resource Development and Research Coordination

With the general aim of building a critical mass of ICT skills and creating human capacity to meet the fast-changing demands of ICT the human resource development and research coordination project is making its various activities.  The specific objectives of the project is to facilitate the development of the required ICT human resource for the nation through an appropriate mix of quality and quantity an promoting ICT research and development.

E-Government

The E-government project has three different sub-projects including content and application development sub project, network expansion and Woreda ICT network project. 
The content and application development sub project is working with its major objective deploying ICT in support of  the on-going public initiatives aimed at sustainable growth and poverty reduction, effective and efficient public service delivery and consolidation of the process of democratization and good governance.

The Woreda ICT network sub-project aim is providing ICT services including video conferencing, directory services, mail services, voice services and internet connectivity to the Federal, Regional and Woreda level government entities.

Network Expansion
The network expansion sub-project is working with the aim at linking government institutions through a high speed and reliable network capable of providing video, voice, data and internet connectivity services for improving the delivery of services to the government institution’s community and to the citizens at large.

Standardization and Regulatory

The standardization and regulatory project is working with the general aim of putting the legal and regulatory framework and facilitate the utilization of ICT products and services, and to guide the deployment, exploitation and development of ICT as well as setting ICT standards.

Information Systems Security and Management Project

The objective of this project is to put in place security measures that are necessary to protect the nation's information system resources (hardware, software, firmware, information/data, and telecommunications) from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. In other words preserve the integrity, confidentiality and availability of information systems resources of the country.

ICT for Private Sector Development Project

The objective of this project is, to provide support and stimulus to private ICT sector development and to facilitate business sector activities with ICTs. In addition, the project promotes private ICT sector investment and direct foreign investment to have technology transfer and contribute to the country’s overall economic development.
