·        HISP implementation and scale up in India: Strategy and Experience - Prof. Sundeep Sahay, University of Oslo – HISP India

 

Summary: Information system scale up is one of the major issues and concerns of researchers and project implementers. The case of HISP India gives fascinating experience in scale up the implementation of DHIS2 from one initial district to country wide in such a vast population state (India)

 

·        An effort to build an electronic pa system for health data repository in Vietnam: the HISP case, Dr Le Trung, HISP Vietnam

 

Summary: Initialed in Vietnam on 2003, HISP in Vietnam has been struggling to build an health data repository to support decision making process. The system is now running in 2 provinces HCMC and Cantho. Lessons on how to use ICT to  build information use culture in health care sector will be discussed

·        Struggling to build  electronic child health record system in Ho Chi Minh city using the flexible approach, Thanh Ngoc Nguyen, University of Oslo, HISP Vietnam

 

Summary: Given poor capacity and infrastructure in developing countries, an effort to build a flexible electronic patient record system targeted to mother and child health has been developed and implemented in HCMC since 2007. Experience and lessons draw upon the case will be discussed. 

·        A flexible EMR (Eletronic Medical Record) for developing countries: the case from OpenMRS, Paul Biondich, OpenMRS Foundation

 

Summary: Present a history of OpenMRS and educate the audience as to how OpenMRS can help establish patient level record systems through our open source codebase and our growing international community.

·        Developing a Management System for HIV/AIDS using ARV drugs, Dept. VAAI and CHIT, MOH of Vietnam.  Prof. Nguyen Hoang Phuong, CHIT, MOH Vietnam.

 

Summary: Present a Management System for HIV/AIDS using ARV drugs. We implemented a pilot system at the TuLiem District medical center. At present, according to the Vietnam infrastructure, the system includes two options: online and offline.

·        Integrating HIS in developing countries: a case of India, John Lewis, HISP India.

 

Summary: This presentation discusses efforts in building an integrated HIS based on OSS by linking up community based electronic records, hospital information, and aggregation information system.

·        Care2x: the case from large scale open source EMR system. Care2x representative

 

Summary: This presentation discusses the development of one of the most famous OSS for hospital information system Care2x which is now adopted in more than 100 countries.

·        OSS for medical laboratory: a case of American lab OSS project OpenELIS, project representative

 

Summary: This presentation gives introduction of IOSN Southeast Asia+3, a network of collaboration and sharing expertise, experience in ICT through the use of free and open source software, especially in health care sector.

·        Collaboration network for Southeast Asia health informatics development, Dr Francis Sarmiento, Manager of Center for Southeast Asia, International Open Source Network.

 

Summary: This presentation gives introduction of IOSN Southeast Asia+3, a network of collaboration and sharing expertise, experience in ICT through the use of free and open source software, especially in health care sector.

·        E-learning and ICT for family medicine and health education, Dr Pham Le An, Chief of Center for family medicine training, HCMC University of Medicine and Pharmacy

 

Summary: Family medicine is well popular in developed countries. Building a effective network of family doctor could help to solve the chronic problem in providing health care services such as overload hospital, burden work to health staff. This presentation discusses the approach how to utilize ICT infrastructure in the effort to build successfully that network. The case from family medicine doctor network in HCMC.

·        Capacity building on OSS for health care: an network based approach, a speaker invited from IOSN Southeast Asian+3

 

Summary: Everybody has an consensus of benefits of using OSS software. Given poor infrastructure and capacity in developing countries, this target could be hard to achieve. A long-term strategy in building capacity on OSS is vital for such successful in adaptation OSS. 

·        eHealth/Telemedicine Sustainability in Developing Countries: Issues for policy development, Dr Adesina Iluyemi, University of London

 

Summary: The aim is to draw attention to health problems in developing countries (DCs) and how eHealth/Telemedicine, the use of ICTs for enabling and supporting healthcare services and delivery either locally or at a distant can contribute in tackling this challenge.  Specifically, the aim is to draw the attention of policy makers, managers, health professionals, investors, donors, NGOs, and the industry to the values of eHealth/ Telemedicine hold for DC’s socio-economic development.

·        A case based reasoning system for teleconsultation for treatment of primary hypertension. CHIT, MOH and Vietnam Heart Institute of MOH of Vietnam. Prof. Nguyen Hoang Phuong.

 

Summary: The aim is to develop a support system for teleconsultation for treatment of primary hypertension which assisted to medical professionals in country side and remote area in Vietnam. The knowledge of the system are real patient records of the past cases selected by the medical doctors of the Vietnam heart institute.
