Speaker profiles

David Kennedy

David

Associate Professor David M. Kennedy has over 30 years teaching experience in education including the last seven years in Hong Kong. He has published widely in teaching and learning involving technology, pedagogical frameworks for the use of ICTs, problem-based learning environments, visual and information literacies, and evaluation of curriculum innovations in a diverse number of academic domains. He is currently the Director of the Teaching and Learning Centre at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. He has undertaken consultations, professional development and seminars related to eLearning, curriculum design, information literacy, using free and open source software, outcomes-based approaches to teaching and learning, and mLearning in the UK, Hong Kong, Australia, Mauritius, South Africa, Russia, Finland, Canada and Malaysia. He is also a member of the Editorial Boards of the Journal of Multimedia and Hypermedia, the International Journal of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (IJTLHE), and the Journal, Education as Change.



Professor Frank Rennie

Frank Rennie is Professor of Sustainable Rural Development at the UHI Millennium Institute in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland and is the Head of Research and Post Graduate Development at Lews Castle College, UHI. He is the Course Leader for the MSc in Managing Sustainable Rural Development at the UHI, and tutors mainly postgraduate students. His research interests lie in the general areas of rural and community development, especially in community-based approaches to integrated sustainable development. Recent work has been on new approaches to online education and distributed learning with rural communities and individuals, particularly Open Access and Open Content resources. He has been an advisor to several government committees and is a Fellow of a number of learned societies. Frank has been involved in developing and delivering various combinations of distributed learning solutions (with a particular emphasis on networked solutions for rural areas) with colleges and university partners in Europe, Asia, Amazonia, Africa, and New Zealand. He has published a wide range of resources related to rural issues, including over 25 books, most recently “Elearning: the Key Concepts” and “E-learning and Social Networking Handbook”.

Tina Wu

Ms. Tina Wu is currently the Business Development Manager of ECDL Foundation, the global governor the world's leading computer skills certification programme, ECDL / ICDL. Based at the Asia Pacific Regional Office at Singapore, Tina's primary focus is to identify the local business partner in each country, to support them implement the ICDL certification programme in the designated territory, and to monitor their performances. Tina also provides strategic marketing and business development support to the local partners, and actively promotes digital literacy and ICDL concepts to NGOs, multinational corporate as well as international development agencies such as UNESCO, ADB, etc. Tina has spoken at numerous high-level ICT conferences in China, Singapore, Malaysia, New Zealand, Philippines, etc.

Prior to joining ECDL Foundation in 2006, Tina has corporate work experience with INSEAD InnovAsia, as a research analyst. Her primary job there was to conduct market research in emerging industries and high-tech start-ups in Asia, particularly focusing on China and Singapore. She has established a network of Asian entrepreneurs, incubators, and angel investment professionals. She has also published several articles on Asian innovation and entrepreneurship trends.

Tina has a Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from National University of Singapore. She is a native Chinese and Singapore Citizen, and is fluent in both English and Mandarin.



 

Raymond Morel

After studies of mathematics, astronomy and mathematical statistics at the University of Geneva, Raymond Morel taught during 25 years at the College of Geneva after being certified by Etudes pédagogiques of DIP. Director during 18 years (1987-2004) of The Geneva Educational Technology Centre (CPTIC), a Service of the Geneva State Education Department (DIP), he achieved the cursus " organization and human resource management " as decision maker of the State of Geneva. Since October 2004 he is head of Educational Prospective Department at the Direction of a new Institution named SEM (Service Ecoles – Medias) .Since 2001 he is individual member of SATW and member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Swiss Academy of Engineering Sciences (SATW). Since 2002, he is chairman of the SATW ICT Committee. Acting expert and Swiss representative in the organizations such as the IFIP (TC-3 and GA), OECD, UNESCO, etc, for more than 25 years. Vice-president of the Worls Digital Solidarity Agency in Lyon. In the research field, he led, as Swiss partner, since 1989 several projects within the framework of the European R & D programs. He has been involved with IFIP since 1971 : currently special consultant of TC-3, since August 2004 Councillor at the IFIP Board. and has contributed since 1981 to the scientific organization of many meetings and international conferences. (1994 the IFIP Outstanding Service Award and 2001 the « IFIP Silver Core »).

Abishek Gupta

Abhishek is presently the Business Head at Hole-in-the-Wall Education Ltd (a Joint venture of NIIT Ltd. and International Finance Corporation). In last two years of his association with HiWEL, he has successfully led the organization to scale up Hole-in-the-Wall project to more than 500 centers in India and 8 African countries.

He has earlier worked with corporate sector in India which included stints at Oracle I Ltd, Reliance Industries limited and government organization Indian Petrochemicals Corporation Limited in areas like ERP-Finance, Corporate finance, Trade Finance among others .

Abhishek holds a management degree from Indian School of Business and lives in New Delhi with his wife and 2 year old son.
