Welcome

WELCOME MESSAGE FROM PRIME MINISTER NGUYEN TAN DZUNG
TO THE WORLD INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY FORUM 2009
WITFOR 2009

On behalf of the Government of The Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, I would like to warmly welcome the 4th World Information Technology Forum under the theme “ICT for Sustainable Development” to be held from 26 to 28 August, 2009 in Ha Noi, Viet Nam.

WITFOR 2009, organized in an Asian nation for the first time, will bring about enormous benefits as well as open up a new and broader pathway for developing countries to apply ICT achievements into socio-economic life. The outcomes of this Forum will provide an important foundation for policy makers, scientists, experts, IT businesses as well as concerned individuals in Viet Nam and the world to obtain an accurate vision and assessment on the current ICT development and, thus, deploy more efforts to bridge the development gap between developed and developing countries, helping to maintain peace and promote prosperity in the world.

The Government of Viet Nam views ICT as a key industry and a sound basis for socio-economic development, social justice and environmental conservation and has increasingly been investing resources in developing the national ICT industry.

I am strongly confident that the dedication and inclination of Viet Nam and global ICT community will make WITFOR 2009 a resounding success and a worthy Forum for the purpose of “Sustainable Development and Prosperity for the World”.

I wish WITFOR 2009 every success.

NGUYEN TAN DZUNG

Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam

Honorary Chairperson of WITFOR 2009
